Since 1291, Murano has been the heart of Venetian glassmaking. In the 15th century, Angelo Barovier revolutionized the craft with his creation of crystal-clear glass. The 16th century, its “Golden Age,” saw the rise of exquisite techniques like filigree and gold or enamel decorations. After periods of decline and revival, the 20th century brought a new era — with artists such as Picasso, Chagall, and Le Corbusier collaborating with glass masters, elevating glass to fine art. Today, Murano remains a symbol of creativity, tradition, and exceptional craftsmanship.
